NY Fashion Week Day 1 & 2 Recap

Day one of Mercedes-Benz fashion week began with lots of great designers. Desigual was one of the two shows that I enjoyed watching from the live stream the most. There were no solids in this collection. It was full of black, white, and a lot of color polka dot and graphics.

I especially loved the printed dresses and skirts with emerald green and red in them. The pieces at the end of the collection with gold added some sparkle to the line. All of the models were dancing to the beat of the music and having a great time. The common thread that pulled their looks together were their curly bouncy hair and the gold eye shadow that they all wore.

I look forward to seeing the Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection ever year. This show is different from the rest of the shows during the week because the models are celebrities giving their time for a good cause. Since they aren't professional models, their own personalities come through on the runway. The very pregnant Daphne Oz waddled down the runway. Lindsey Vonn  even walked the runway on crutches.

All of the ladies wore red dresses donated to the organization so that the proceeds could go to the organization to fight heart disease in women. Designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Nicole Miller, Zac Posen, and many more created gorgeous evening gowns for the show. The 5' 2" Kat Graham had the best runway walk. Anika Noni Rose entertained the crowd with her turns and twirls. Anna Sophia Robb wore the best dress, in my opinion designed by Alice & Olivia.

Day two had many great shows by Rebecca Minkoff, Nicole Miller, Academy of Art University students, and Emerson. The highlight of the day for me was the collection by Carmen Marc Valvo. His mostly black line sparkled. It also had the right amount of color, touches of the popular faux leather, and fur.

The gorgeous models looked great in all of the gowns as they strutted. The common threads were their serious expressions with bangs and tight ponytails with multiple rubber bands.
