Saturday and Sunday were day 3 & 4 of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. Here is my list of the best collections. The Herve Leger by Max Azria show was full of lots of sexy cut outs to expose the right amount of skin. It had shiny beading around necklines and along the curves of the model's bodies.
I loved the way the touches of fringe swayed as they walked. The designer also used piping as one of the key eye catching elements of the line. It was a great collection.
I was looking forward to seeing Monique Lhuillier's show. She did not disappoint. Her collection went from ready-to-wear belted dresses and suits, all the way to gorgeous evening gowns.
There was a wonderful mix of fabrics in this line. I loved the sheer fabric and the layered netting pieces. The hot pink dresses were some of my favorites.
The long flowing evening gowns stole the show. I adored the dresses that were very short in the front and long in the back. As well as the details of the hot pink design on the black and the black applique on top of the white dress.
South African designer David Tlale's collection started out tame with the beautiful pale lavender blouses with gold collars, but quickly kicked it up a notch when the electric blue leather stepped on the runway.
Of course there were a lot of little black dresses in his fall collection. But they were gorgeous with the perfect pairing of sheer fabric and flowered details.
My favorite gown was a champagne colored floor length gown with creative sleeves and brown sparkling beads on the collar and waistline.
Mongolian designer Katya Zol's fashion show began with performing artists who amazed the crowd with their skills. The show got even better when the models walked out.
The colors ranged from neutral browns, grays, tans, and blacks. I usually don't like white for fall and winter, but I loved the way Katya did her winter white.
Even with all of the wool, cashmere, leather, and fur, the collection wasn't heavy. The designer's line had dramatic high splits up the front, low cut backs, hooded jackets, and two-tone leather to keep it light.
I knew when I saw the first green looks, that I was going to like Vivienne Tam's show. It was a great mix of prints and solids.
Although the collection had black pieces in it, unlike a lot of other collections, black was used sparingly. That left room for all of the other great jewel tone colors that she used.
Everyone loved the shades of greens, blues, charcoals, purples, and reds. The drawstring bows around the necklines and waists regardless of the fabric that she used was also a nice touch. I loved being able to watch all of the shows streaming live.
