The Book Club Play

I will admit that I was a little reluctant when one of my book club members asked the group if we wanted to go see a play about a book club. How was a play about a book club meeting going to keep my attention for two hours? But since I've been a member of a group that has kept me entertained for the last seventeen years and I love plays, why not?

Saturday afternoon we caught the matinee of The Book Club Play at the Horizon Theatre in Little Points written by Karen Zacarias. The hilarious play was about a control freak avid reader, her husband who never reads the book because he sees the movie instead, their questionable friend from college, and a few intriguing newcomers. The members fall all over themselves accidentally revealing secrets while trying to act natural being filmed for a documentary.

It follows the member's meetings over several months discussing different classic and contemporary books. It was a look at how great books can change your life. Since I also love fashion, I enjoyed all of the costume changes as well.  So if you live in Atlanta, you love books and theater like I do, go see this funny play. And take your book club with you.
