SAG Awards Best Dressed

Oh how I love award season. Don't you? Last night, I watched the 21st annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards. Of course I had to catch everyone walking the red carpet before the show. There were so many beautiful gowns but here are my favorites.
A lot of people don't wear white in the wintertime. But then again, we don't live in Los Angeles where everyone was complaining about the eighty degree heat in January. I liked a couple of white dresses including this one worn by Maggie Gyllenhaal designed by Thakoon.

Boardwalk Empire star Gretchen Mol looked very elegant. She had on a sheer hand beaded Dennis Basso gown. I loved the way the beads went across the sheer sleeves.

I wondered how Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt was able to walk in her body hugging black gown. And then the camera panned down and I saw the beautiful mermaid bottom.

Natalie Dormee, Game of Throne actress, was breaking all the rules wearing her floral gown. If you've visited my blog before, then you know that I love designer Naeem Khan.

Another eye catching white gown was a Georgio Armani worn by Reese Witherspoon. It was a sleek number that was off the shoulder with hint of sequins across the neckline.

I have to stop myself from posting every cobalt gown I see on the red carpet. This gorgeous color does something to me. And The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies looked fabulous in her Giambattista Valli gown.

Since Julianna Moore got  my vote for best dressed at the Golden Globes a couple weeks ago, I was tempted not to list her again. But it would be a crying shame not to have her on here because she looked stunning again in her green beaded Givenchy dress.

My favorite gown of the evening was worn by presenter Emmy Rossum. She looked amazing in her textured layered gown by designer Armani Prive.

I hope you enjoyed my picks. Who wore your favorite look?

With This Ring Movie

I'm super excited about this Saturday night, because the movie With This Ring premiers on Lifetime. The film stars a wonderful cast including Regina Hall, Jill Scott, Eve, Brooklyn Sudano, Jason George, Stephen Bishop, Brian White, and Deion Sanders.

With This Ring is based on the book The Vow about three single friends who vow to fall in love and be married in a year after attending a friend's wedding in Los Angeles. This novel was written by authors Denene Millner, Angela Burt-Murray, and Mitzi Miller. Viewers will also get to see the three authors Saturday because they have small parts in the movie.

The Vow became With This Ring and was brought to life for TV by talented screenwriter and director Nzinga Stewart. The team of executive producers include Gabrielle Union, Tracey Edmonds, and Shelia Ducksworth.

"They" say the book is always better. But I personally enjoy reading the books and watching them play out as movies.  It's like having your cake and eating it too.

My 2015 Golden Globe Best Dressed List

Sunday night was an exciting night on TV because it was the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards live on NBC. I love watching The Globes  for many reasons. First off, it's refreshing seeing the 1,300 guests seated at round tables enjoying their three course dinners rather than watching everyone sitting theater style like most award shows. The Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California hosted the ceremony.

Another reason I love this award is because I love movies and television. So I get to watch my favorite actors and writers honored on the same night. Last but not least, I love all the fashion. So here is my list of favorite looks of the night.

Amy Adams wasn't only a winner of another Golden Globe last night, but she was winning in her pale Versace gown. Let me say that not everyone can pull off a dress full of draping across their body like she did.

I thought Diane Kruger looked flawless in her sleek silver Emily Wicksted dress. It was the kind of dress that I wouldn't expect to have a train, but I'm so glad that it did.

When I watch award shows, I always look to see what the correspondents are wearing too. Shaun Robinson did not disappoint in her green cut out sweetheart gown on 1st Look Live.

And I don't care what nobody says, Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike was wearing that Vera Wang gown! Maybe her critics didn't get the memo that she just had a baby a month ago. And maybe they didn't see that his beautiful white number is backless.

But my eyes almost popped out of my head and my mouth dropped open when I saw Still Alice winner Juliann Moore in this metallic ombre gown with feathers at the bottom. She won my best dressed of the evening.

Beauty & Books

Last night, I had a great time at author Ahyiana Angel's book signing. Preseason Love is her debut novel published by Zane's Strebor Books.

The intimate event called Beauty & Books took place at the chic curlBox office in Atlanta. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how gorgeous the curlBox suite was. But the venue wasn't the only thing unique about the signing.

Instead of listening to Ahyiana read from her novel, we drank wine and talked about everything from relationships to careers. It was more of a party than a traditional book signing and I loved that.

Of course I purchased my copy of Preseason Love. And hearing about her life, I look forward to reading the novel about the crazy game of love.
